Somatic Energy Group Therapy

Introductory Group

Somatic Energy Therapy Group is for people who are interested in learning to improve emotional regulation and have an openness or curiosity about the mind-body-energy connection, new healing methods, and improving our relationship with our self. People struggling with emotional reactivity or overwhelm, emotional numbness or disconnection, or persistent self-criticism may benefit from this group.

The group curriculum is developed by Jake Pierce-Walsh and is based on his own form of therapy, Somatic Energy Therapy, which blends somatic (body-focused) therapies, attachment theory, and energy psychology. It comes from the perspective that our body has its own consciousness, manner of communication, and wisdom. When we learn to connect with our body in ways that open us to these different aspects, we can develop a new relationship with ourselves to help us live more fully

Somatic Energy Therapy Group is an 8-session biweekly educational group on Monday nights from 7-8:30pm, online over Zoom. The group is capped at 10 members to support learning and group cohesiveness. Rather than a “process group” where the bulk of group is about members checking-in and sharing their experience, this is an educational group where, much like a class, group content follows a curriculum designed to help you build certain skills.

During this 8-week introductory educational therapy group we’ll explore new ideas and beliefs to help you relate to yourself and your concerns differently. Through guided internal exercises, we’ll then take those ideas from the conceptual into an embodied experience where they can have a deeper impact on who you are and how you live. From feeling more grounded to being more accepting of yourself and others, learning to listen to your body’s communication to perceiving the events in your life in more helpful ways, this introductory group focuses on helping you stop fighting yourself and start supporting your learning, growth, and healing.
